1.8T 20V Conversion Wiring ECU, Ignition

I have started converting my 1.8T into the mk1 shell and now I have hit a wall at the wiring,
can anyone help me out,
do I keep the mk1 ECU and Ignition or do I use the mk4???

You need to use the mk4 engine loom and make it fit the mk1.  There are a few different ways to do this but the simplest is to just use the mk4 loom and rewire it to fit into the mk1 fuse box, easiest with an immo defeat on the ECU as you dont need the mk4 clocks and transponder then.  What year is the engine from?

the best way is as mentioned above, me and rubjonny  on here do wiring loom conversions if your stuck wioth wiring it up

The engine is out of a 1999.
would I have to get a professional to do the rewiring,
or could I do it my shelf??

You can do it yourself if you have the ability to do it. Its not that tricky to do if you have a reasonable grasp of electrics and there's quite a lot of info out there on what you need to do.  Wiring diagrams are readily available for the 1.8T, if you're stuck with finding one PM me with the engine code and i'll more than likely have it.  If you want to run it minus the clocks you need an immo delete which I can do via post.

hi john how much of this info is usfull when putting a bora 2.0 8v into a mk1.

all mk4 wiring looms are basically the same for the fusebox connections so yeah it'll do you just fine
