reverse phsycology - k-jet to carb question

Post

Posting this as i'm about to go into a meeting for 4hrs so cant sit and search :(

super quick….8v engine 1990 -  K-jet removed, carb in place, runs great apart from when left for any length of time the fuel appears to be draining back to the tank. The car will fire on the fuel in the float bowl run then stall, a few turns of the key and it runs again as normal. Fuel pump is mechanical, i'm appear to be missing something, any clues ?

I'll be out this stupid meeting in 4hrs or so starter for 10 please, or any related links please post up

cheers

got the swirl pot.

should the in tank pick up pump be removed if there is a mechanical pump in place, wondering if hooking up the lift pump will keep fuel pressure in the lines but wont over feed the mechanical pump, is that even possible ? surely the swirl pot will shoot back any excess down the return line ?

yeah you either bin off the in-tank pump and use the carb one, or bin the carb pump and use the in-tank pump instead. what did you do with the main pump, filter and lines? just bypassed pump and converted to carb filter and lines?

I have the same trouble. From what I can work out the weber I have evaporates the fuel bowl over time. Use everyday no issue. Leave a week and needs lots of cranking.

The weber has an open vented bowl so that doesn't help.

I fitted a non return and that helped somewhat as it stops the fuel filter draining due to syphon so less cranking.

I have no swirlpot just tank, filter, pump, carb.

I did consider an electric pump so it fills the bowl without cranking. 5 secs of ignition should do it but decided it wasn't worth the hassle on a weekend play thing.

it had the in tanklifter pump and then the fuel went through the old accumulator and external pump (not engaged) up to the manual pump, weirdly the in-tank and external pump were getting power from somewhere so i pulled the fuse on them both which helped alot, i think the accumulator is messing up the flow also so going to bypass the lot as if it never had any injection stuff at all.
cheers.
