So are you running no servo? Your set up is the route I'm thinking of going down soley because I want to run 14".. But I maybe look at a remote servo in car.
Does your pedal box bolt to the floor or the bulk head?

G60 calipers and discs would be a slight upgrade to 16v

i did have a remote servo bolted to the tunnel under the dash ,but was only plumbed into the front master i didnt think it made a huge difference,so taken it off as i want a cleaner look inside,
so now wondering about maybe better calipers & pads ,but dont want to shell out if its not going to be worth it.

What engine are you running?
I've got G60s on my mk2 , black diamond drilled and grooved with predator pads. Has 280bhp and there plenty enough for the road. Don't think the would stay cool enough on a track thou

I'm running the booster delete mod (as we call it in SA) on both my Mk1's, both have 280mm discs with Citi Golf calipers in the front and Golf 2 GTi discs and calipers in the back. An adjustable brake bias is required to prevent the rears from locking up but shouldn't be an issue if good quality coilovers and tyres are fitted. Braided hoses on all 4 corners are also fitted.  Braking is very effective, pedal is firm with very little travel and very easy to control at the point of locking up.
