Thinking of putting a k and n filter on 1.5 with a webber carb. Where would I route the oil breather on the rocker cover though???
Thanks

not a good idea especially in winter as there is no warm air feed to the carb so it'll conk out all the time due to carb icing. these bolt on filters provide nothing but louder noise and less reliability so avoid

You can get K & N panel filters which live where the paper filter would be, use one on my Mk1 Scirocco and Mk1 Golf Gti, saves buying a new air filter every 12 months.
Other places sell them, this is the first one I found…

I've had a K&N filter on my webber for about 3yrs and never had a problem. I use the car most days winter included. And yes they are louder and sound great .but I can see the point about no warm air feed but it's never bin a problem for me…I've also got a power flow exhaust and that just adds to the sound love it and the car owned for about 6yrs MK1 golfs rule lol

Its not just about getting warm air in the carb during the winter, you also get hot air going in the carb during the summer months as its just above the hot exhaust manifold at the back of the engine, cold air is best in the summer that why VW put a long tube going to the front of car to get cold air in the carb and warm air in the winter by a buy pass hose. I think I read somewhere you will lose BHP using one of these pancake style filter but I could be wrong.
Get a panel filter and have the best of both worlds….. Thats what I've done….
