G60 cutting out when fan comes on

Howdy folks, I have a bit of an issue with my wagen. I think the battery terminals might be the cause. They  cables don’t tighten very well onto the  battery clamps  for a start . When its idling and gets warm the fan comes on and the car cut out , so I  clamped a vise grips onto each terminal  and that seemed to do the trick .so I let it idle  for another few minutes and  fully get up to temperature and the fan came on and then it started to stall and it cut out , I also noticed it seemed to start over fueling at the same time.
