Coolant pipe for abf

Post

Hey all

in the middle of doing this conversion with twin 45's and just going through some of the stuff I got. I've found a metal coolant pipe that wraps around the engine ( pic included) but ideally wanted to get a new one. The part number I have on the tag doesn't match up with vw and the closest they found ended in the letter p( now obsolete). local gsf have one similar but not quite the same and just wanted to no what you guys done to get around this?

cheers

If it's not got any holes or rust why not just paint it to make it look like new?

Matt black enamel spray paint will stand up to the temperature of the coolant and engine. I painted mine 5 years ago and it still looks good.

Asarl says, if its solid, just paint it, obsolete to buy and more so rust free 2nd hand. I made a new one for my 9a a bit back due to rust.

Yeah I did think about just painting it up but wasn't sure if it would be ok to use as one of the outlets has gotten a bit shitty. I'm fairly new to all this so wasn't sure if I could just clean the outlet up?

looks liek a mk2 type one which sits behind the filter carrier? the abf one goes round the front. its NLA from VW but the 8v ones are similar (thats what I have) alternatively there is a pattern one available from a seller on ebay if you want a proper abf one, though i havent fitted mine yet to see how good it is
