APX ecu into a MK1 with cable throttle .

Post

Does anyone know if it is possible to use an APX ecu with a cable throttle . I have the engine fitted in the car , I have an APX ecu ( de-immobilized and mapped )and standard engine loom ,also an agu throttle body , ecu , loom and three wire coils . I am guessing I have most of the parts to make up a loom that should connect everything if the ecu would work with it but I need a cleverer person than me to either explain or do the job , thanks , David

I don't think you can run a cable with an APX ecu.
You'd have to source an AGU ecu/loom/sensors and use them on your APX engine. Injectors are a different size too..

either that or mount the pedal. pretty easy many have done it so not too hard to find details on the job

Getting the correct map on the AGU ecu seems to be a big problem ( R-tech , Jabba and Revo not interested )so fitting the fly by wire throttle would seem to be the easiest way to go . Is there a pin out diagram for an APX and any advice on what you need to do to the loom with the functions I no longer need ? thanks for the advice so far , David

That is a fantastic amount of information . Mine is from an S3 but everything seems to tally up but how can I identify the post lambda part of the loom . Thankyou very much , if we ever meat I will buy you a pint ( at least )

not sure what you mean about 'post lambda' ?

Sorry , I meant the lambda after the cat .

ah well the APX ecu doesn't have one, this is why I was confused

its a narrow band pre-cat lambda as well, i.e. 4 pins. if you have 2x lambda plugs 6 pin and 4 then you have the wrong loom for an APX ecu

there are 2 four wire lambda plugs one with a brown/green heater earth and one with a red/purple heater earth . Other than that all the wire colours are identical .

ok so you dont have an APX loom there, if it has a 4 wire pre-cat lambda is it as narrow band one at least so the pre-cat wiring should be fine all you got to do is cut out the rear one.

the front lambda is wired like so:
1 - blue/yellow - fuel pump power (lambda heater power)
2 - brown/green - ecu pin 5
3 - green - ecu pin 51
4 - black - ecu pin 70

If you like you could let me know where the other plug wires go, just to confirm 100% its a post cat lambda and not something else random

I bought the loom and ecu seperate from the engine so I do not know where it went .

thats no problem the dbw 20v looms are all pretty similar pinout really main difference is that some are wideband and some are narrow, some have VVT some dont and some have EGT and some dont.

the fact yours is at least narrowband helps as that side should all be good, just double check the wiring to the pre-cat as above :)
