ABF Conversion - Crakshaft Pulley

Post

Hello all

Just prepping for an ABF swap into my mk1 cabby

The ABF came with air con - which I have deleted along with the power steering too,

Im swapping the water pump pulley for ribbed type off an 8v mk3, but……

The Crankshaft pulley still have the V belt pulley part attached - do I need to remove and swap this out for clearance on the chassis leg or can I get away with leaving it - does the v belt part of the pulley provide balance/dampening?

I see it can be split but it looks a bit crusty (i'm changing out the fixing bolts anyway) and don't want to end up with a knackered pulley - crank wheel off anything else fit - non PS KR possibly?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Steve

the vbelt pulley can be binned if you like, its not needed. iirc there are no issues with clearance but its been a few years since I've owned a mk1…

best to take the crank pulley off anyway as you'll want to put a new timing belt on ;)

Cheers - need to dig out the plus gas and the hammer!

Its not long had a belt and all the usual seals done by last owner (although I'm doing them again as there is an oil leak)  - although the crank sensor o ring is torn up

Anyone know if the o ring can be gotten seperate?

if its that badly stuck just leave it, you dont want to put much heat into them as they have a rubber damper, and i dont think it will enjoy being heated up lol

crank sensor oring is 021906445, 3.23+VAT
