9a 16v exhaust manifold and steering boot

Post

I've seen some scary stories regarding heat from the exhaust manifold causing a fire. I have heat wrapped my manifold but am concerned about it as it is almost touching the rubber steering boot. What has worked for people in addition to the heatwrap? or do I need to find another manifold?

few things you can do mate,
A- get some foil tape and put a few layers around the boot itslef too.
B- get a plumbers heat mat (basically heat wrap) and use steel tie wraps to hold it on the boot itself between that and the manifold.
C- not much room for you and would clash with the rack knuckle but shape a plate around the mani to deter heat away with a heat mat sandwhich'd betweeen mani and plate, or make a shielld that bolts to the steering rack.

D- cut the boot off

Ive had one of the horror stories myself, and mine was as close as yours dude.

Undercut and weld your exhaust

Lots of clearance afterwards
