Hello so I'm looking two convert my 1.6d two abf I have a complete downer car and a complete gti loom tank fuel pump ect is my best option two convert the car two gti loom then two abf or is there a step by step for converting the loom out of the car ? Searched and searched but getting confused with all the info : ( so eny help would be amazing!!!!

Ignoring any dash functions I think the only part of the gti wiring loom required to run the ABF is for the fuel pump.

Okay so I can just swap out the diesel fuel wireing and fit the gti pump and tank in the car ? I'm looking two keep the stock injection on the abf so goals two keep it all factory looking wold you recommend new fuel lines as well ? Thanks for the help ! :)

Yeah I think new fuel lines are a pretty good idea, metal ones on gti,s always seem to be rusty. rubjonny the resident wiring specialist will probably comment on here and offer some serious advice about connecting all the electrics shortly.

Exilent will probably replace with aftermarket braded lines yea seen a fue of his posts they are exilent just the 1.6d as a starting point throwing me out

if its later blade type CE1 fusebox:

only real difference engine loom side for splicing is the rev counter wire on a diesel is in the lighting loom, look at the 2 pin plug near the battery where the alternator loom plugs in. run that to the coil -ve and you're sorted, leave the blue as it is and hook up to the abf alt blue wire

Got no rev gage in the car so will be looking at an aftermarket one with a shift light thanks for the info going to make the loom out of the car using various guides of yours then put it my  the car only bit I'm concerned about now is the immobiliser

if you have the matched immobiliser box and chip/key plus the loom its just 4 wires to get it workin :)

black is ignition live, ring terminal is earth, grey/white to ecu and grey to diagnostics jumper block.


get the diagnostics jumper and port too with the grey/white and yellow wiring uncut, the red/white and brown tap into the main dash harness near the middle so chase those back and snip off.

note the green plug is on the mk3 brake light switch wiring, you dont need that bit so just snip the black wire off the green plug and give it an ignition feed :)
