1.4 twincharge conversion

Post

The time has come to increase the oomph in the old girl.

I'm currently running a 2013 Fabia VRS with the 1.4 twincharge engine and 7 speed DSG. A most gratifyingly amusing combination.

I like the idea of the small(ish) engine with 180bhp together with the DSG box.

Has anyone else done this conversion?

I'm currently looking at donor cars on the (misguided) basis that I can take the front end lock stock and barrel and shoehorn it in. So the looms, sensors etc etc are moved.

What do we think?

Would be very interested to see this, If no one has done it then I guess would be a lot of fabricating and measuring etc possibly custom driveshafts? Would be like a g60 on crack!

Yes - I was thinking engine mounts etc, unless by luck, the subframe fits!

What particularly appeals is carrying over the abs, dsg, pas etc.

Not to mention 177bhp!

I imagine you'd need to fabricate a gearbox mount, front engine mount under the radiator area, cambelt side engine mount, I think there are common pas conversions that use corsa columns? Not too sure, abs would be an extreme challenge to plumb in and get functioning wheel speed sensors reluctor rings etc, then all these toys need there bus networks PT_CAN etc wired up to communicate with eachother, possible if you can get hold of the schematics but you'll probably not have a lot of fabia left by the end of it!
