02J shifter help

I am after a bit of advice with which shifter is best to use when converting to an 02j shifter tower

I am in the middle of a g60 conversion, I am using the g60 02A gearbox but have swapped the shifter tower out for an 02J one

I picked up the shifter and cables from a polo but the cables don't seem to fit on to the tower

This is one of the pegs on the shifter tower:



And this is the end of the cables:



It looks like the peg on the shifter tower should go all the way through the end of the cable with a clip on the other side but this isn't possible with these cables!?

Can I just change the end of these cables or do I need to get a different shifter and cables, if so what are the best ones to get?

you have the wrong polo shifter, you need a 9n shifter from a bigblock engine car

Thanks, will I be able to swap the ends or is it a case of a new shifter?

you just need to either change the cable ends for the pin style, or change the parts on the tower to the ball style.

you have 2 different 'late' mk4 shifters you have a missmatch with the cable ends and the tower, they're still both late

Thanks! I'll change the cable ends over, I have a shifter from a golf with right ends but looks like it'll be a bit long
