02a gearbox mount and clutch cable

Post

My Epytec engine mount arrived today - nice!

It has the C retainer that supports the outer clutch cable already attached. If the 1.3 clutch cable needs to have the outer sheath trimmed by 3cm to get it to work properly, why don't people just move the C retainer on the mount?
Yes, it will need someone else to weld it for those that haven't got the equipment, but then it is done.
No trimming of cables risking damage each time you change a cable.

I haven't fitted it to the gearbox yet, and the angles may not be right, but there must be a better way than trimming the clutch cable? For cars that have a std clutch cable mechanism, is the pedal end very different to the mk1? Is there no way to adapt the pedal end?

Am I missing something here???
Cheers

The Epytec mounts arrived. However, as I have 02j shift tower it is not quite compatible as the clutch cable retainer clashes with the reverse switch. Fine if using hydraulic clutch, but im not. I also wanted to retain my reversing switch, and not have to mod the clutch cable each time I have to change one.

Here is my solution.

And here with the clutch cable fitted.

I have tested it with someone depressing the clutch pedal and ensuring the range is ok and the clutch lever does not foul the clutch cable adjustment piece.

Oh, and I know the welding is terrible, but it has been 20 years since I last used an arc welder   :ocf_emoticons__eusa_dance:
