Classic insurance benefits but holding no claims

Post

ive sold my day to day car as I now have a company car. I have built up 9 years no claims and if I don't insure another car on a normal policy I will loose this in two years which I want to avoid.
Can anyone recommend an insurer that will give me the benefits of classic insurance, i.e agreed valuation etc but will maintain my no claims. I'm currently insured with Carole Nash but they cannot help.
I have found that Lancaster will do this, but that's the only one I have found so far.
Help greatly received.

i always went on the two year rule,  i had a quote a few weeks back, i sent a 3 month old renewal notice, they wouldnt accept it, had to get a letter writen from the insurer! so keeping for 2 years will be fun, they did accept the letter though.

Hi Dan,

I was in the same situation as you a year ago.

Im yet to find an insurance company you can use ncb with that is a classic policy.

I would double check with Lancaster, I checked with them and they said no.

You have a few options.

Insure your car full comp one year and then classic the other. This will help you protect your ncb.

I use Brentacre who also do an agreed value, but I just continue with them year on year.

The other option if you have room is buy a cheap run around and insure that with ncb.

Hope that helps

Rich

The main thing I want to retain as with a classic policy is the agreed valuation. Lancaster said they would do this on a normal policy taking my no claims into account but I would not build up any further no claims after the 1st year as the max was 10 years.

9 or 10 years is the max on most normal polices. Why not go with Lancaster if you want an agreed value?

I find it's cheaper to insure my daily drive Mk1 Golf Gti cabriolet on a normal insurance policy (fully comp with 12,000 miles a year) than it is to insure my Mk1 1.6 GLS Scirocco on a classic insurance with 5000 miles as like you I have to have a main car to get the classic insurance and I have no no-claims on the classic policy.
I do have full no-claims as never claimed in 26 years of driving.
