Hi mate
What did you set your points at? (it should be 0.4mm)
Is your timing set up correctly

Wont tick over
Thanks for the reply I have the points set at 0.4 the timing is hard to set as wont tick over but set it with points opening at 5 degrees BTC its starts ok just won't run without choke.
Will be trying to run from gallon can beside car at the week end to isolate the tank and fuel pipes if not that will try service kit for the carb.
Any other ideas welcome

Hello, have you checked the fuel cut off solenoid ?? That would cause it to not tick over but run with throttle or choke.

Have you checked to see if the fuel is being delivered to the carb if it is check if there is a air leak from the inlet manifold

Wont tick over
Here again tried running the car with feed from fresh clean petrol in a gallon can beside the front of the car straight to the fuel pump still won't tick over.
The fuel cut of solenoid is making clicking noise and moving when ignition turned on and off so I think that's ok carb mounting gasket looks fine, have got carb in bits found some very small debris in the two jets on the left side of carb when looking from the top.
There are two adjustment screws on the right hand side one large this one will come out and is clean the smaller one will turn ok and go in so it stops but when it's undone I can't remove it from the carb body will give the carb a good clean and try again in the morning.
