which engine??

hello all, i,m new to the forum so forgive me if i'm going over old ground.
i've got two project cars on the go at the moment, one on the road with a worn 1.3 driver engine, and one off the road with a low mileage 1.1 fitted.
i haven't got either the time or budget for big block 16v conversion, so i'm looking to find and drop (into the 1.1) the best small block(1.3?) i can find.
my question is what should i be looking/asking around for??
i've read other postings and the HK(?) gets mentioned alot, what car does it originate from?
the polo GT lump looks like a nice choice on paper(bhp etc)? how plentiful are they in scap yards? what are they like to fit?

ive got a nice 1.8 carb engine that ive just pulled out of mine. should just pop straight in aswell

Engine mount needs moving to go to a larger block than the 1.3
