Where is temperate sender?

My golf temperate gauge went overheat when I switch on engine. Engine wansn't overheat at all. I suspect faulty temp sender but where is it? Please help me

Do you mean the temperature SENDER ?

Or do you mean the temperature SENSOR for the cooling fan ?

The temp. sender is in the thermostat housing under the distributor.

The temp. sensor is in the rad.

Temperature SENDER, not the one for rad. Thank for help, I willhave a look when outside not that cold!

Gold-MK1 is correct about the location of the temp sensor.  I changed mine too and found that sensors from euro or GSF gave the wrong reading on the gauge. I would reccomend you use a genuine vw part. Part number 049 919 501
