Warm starting problem

Hi

I have a 1272 A reg Driver. I have a Webber carb fitted about 18 months ago.

In the last few weeks I am having more and more trouble starting the engine when the car is warm. It starts first time when cold or left for a few hours but if I travel, stop and turn the engine off and then try to restart the car in the next couple of hours it is really not keen to start!

Any ideas on what this could be as I am at a loss and as my job involves driving round on short visits I am getting a bit worried it won't actually start soon.

Thanks in advance!!

hi andbar1 , was the choke changed to a manual type when the weber was fitted??? if so could just be the choke sticking open a bit which would cause bad starting when warm, just a thought could be wrong.

The choke was a manual before and still is.

What is the best way to check this? Take of the airfilter? Is this ok to do when the engine is warm?

Thanks very much!

yeh just pop the filter case off and see if the choke is open , should be fine warm or cold , while your there just inspect the carb and poss give it a clean with carb cleaner , can only help if it worked ok when first fitted could just be build up of crap round the carb.

Ta, will give it a go. Ya would think it would last longer than that before needing a clean!

Any other possible suggestions gratefully accepted……
