Warm/hot start problem on my 1.1 Formel E

My little 1.1 has developed a warm/hot start problem over the past couple of weeks. It's got to the point where jump starting it is the only way of getting it going with a small pump of the accelerator.

I've had a good look at the threads on here but haven't really found anything specific to the small carb engines.

Am I right in thinking the non return valve still applies to the 1.1?  :redfaced:

I'm sure it's fuel related as the battery is working fine.

Sounds like a battery issue not spinning the mechanical fuel pump over quick enough to lift the fuel

It starts fine when cold though and won't, especially, after a long journey :dontknow:

"Cough" a bit of a contradiction is not that?

m00, I think you might be right by saying it's a fuel issue, it sounds similar to the problem my friend had with his 1.1. I took the top of his carburettor and noticed the float chamber was full of debris, I cleaned the float chamber, cleaned the jets and emulsion tube, changed the inline fuel filter, took the top off the fuel tank and cleaned the debris out the tank (a telescopic magnet will help loads there) and also cleaned the small filter in there too. That fixed his and not had the same issue since, but cannot guarantee that it is the same fault you are having.

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure it's fuel related too. We serviced it a week ago and the fuel filter had quite a bit of sediment in it. Although the fuel filler neck was replaced sometime in its history, I think the tank is still full of crap.

I'm planning on taking it off the road but not until October as I still need it.

In the meantime I'll just have to drive the OH's Ford
