urgent help needed!
Hi all,
I'm having a lot of problems with my 1.1 '82
I'm not getting any power and the engine is cutting out. It is also frequently misfiring when it is running. It seems to be happening when the engine is warm mostly.
Its not a carb issue or fuel line issue (carb and jets recently checked and blown fuel lines through, petrol is in the filter)
The leads are producing an OK spark from the coil, but I don't think its that.
Could it be distributor problems? I've got a strange one which takes a giselli (spelling?) cap and rotor arm which are really hard to find, and if it means anything, its gone through a couple of them in recent years.
I need to use the car urgently in a week so any help would be appreciated.
If it is a dizzy problem, what distributor from another model could i replace it with.
Cheers,
Max

that sounds like either a timing issue or the dizzy aint set up right. have you changed the points and condenser recently?
il try find some links at lunch for the replacement dizzy's available as your aint a standard. should be Bosch or a Ducellier.
try looking on www.vagcat.com and finding your model and it will tell you the version you require.
misfire can only really be a fuel, air or ignition problem and as u have ruled out 2 is does point at ignition.

please any1 do correct me if im wrong but the 1.1 and the 1.3 dizzy was the same but the only acception to the rule is the Formel E with is different due to the high compression rating.
so basically any 1.1 or 1.3 dizzy will suit. iv got a link at home to a site that sells refurb'ed units which il post tonight.
