Simple Guide to tuning a carb

Hi all,

Could anyone let me know the basics of tuning a carb yourself?

I understand the principles, but I'm not sure where to start on the practicalities for my mate's 1.1. It runs fine high up the rev range, but is really slow to build up the revs when pulling from low down in the rev range…

Is there anything obvious I should be looking at?

Any tips or hints would be very much appreciated!
