Polo NZ injection setup

Post

Evening all! Ive managed to purchase myself another MK1 with a popped 1.1 engine. I have a 1.3 Polo NZ engine here with all the injection stuff so thought it would be interesting to see if I could get it into the MK1 and running on the injection. It'll also solve the issue of me knowing nothing about carbs :D.

I know there are a few on here that have done the conversion so I would really appreciate the help guys. :)

So my questions are:

Fuel pump - Will I use the Polo NZ intank pump? I think its straight fit… is this true? And will I need to run another inline pump?

Wiring - Can I use the wiring from the Polo and does it just plug into the back of the mk1 (Series 2, CE1) fuse box? Or will I have to splice the old loom into the polo loom?

Exhaust manifold - Will the exhaust manifold from the mechanical head 1.1 fit the hydro head 1.3?

Coolant hoses - All should be a straight swap… shouldnt they?

And is there any other bits and bobs I should do while the engine is it? Its getting oil and a new filter (the engine had a new timing belt about 20k ago so thats cool)

Any help is appreciated folks. :)

Fuel pump - My NZ had a lift pump and an external pump like a polo GT.
Wiring - Not 100% but the ECU has its own loom I think? and the engine loom just needs a few wires lengthening.
Exhaust manifold  - Will bolt up fine but the exhaust feed to the bottom of the carb will need welding up on the down pipe
Coolant hoses - are all pretty much a straight swap if you have S2 hoses.

The Mk1 Golfs older and better looking sibling……..
