Please help! Petrol everywhere!

AAARRRGH! theres petrol all over the back seats!

I have had the black cap off from under the seat and looked at the tank. i replaced the fuel pipe and clamped them up and theres still fuel under the rear seats leaking from somewhere but im mystified. I cant work out where its comin from and the whole car reeks of fuel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Its probably the new pipe you've just put on then. Maybe the connection isn't good enough. Was the pipe's bore size the same as the old one? If its too big then that might be the problem.

Lift out the rear seat, take the metal cover off and start the engine then take a look at the area to see where its all coming from (obviously not in the dark with a naked flame!).

Have you done anything else in this area?

Cheers,

Ross

when you say youve had the black cap off i presume you mean the cap that allows you entry to the tank ?? have you fitted it back in place correct ? are the screws tight because if not it wont have sealed again ?

as ross said its the pipe the right bore? did it fit tightly when you re-fitted it ??

Interior smell can be caused by the rubber O ring under the top of the guage sender - accessed through black panel.  The black panel does not seal the tank.

Thankyou all!

Bore right size and all parts secured.

Turns out that there was still fuel around and under the lip afetr it had all been put together so after cleaning it about a million times it was ok.

The problem was only the perished fuel lines.

I think it should definately be something to check on all cars, imagine what could have happened if i smoked etc.

Thanks again, Will
