Over heating
-also the car only starts easily with the choke on and a short warm up time
-the fan only comes on afer the engines turned off
im still getting to know my car but is this normal?

My 1983 Diver runs at half gauge when hot, the warm up time is quite quick. The engine cools down quite quickly and requires choke after a couple of hours. The cooling fan runs any time as it has a permanent supply. You may notice the fan after the engine has been switched off due to latent heat build up caused because of no water flow due to waterpump not turning. This is all quite normal.
