ongoing running issues 1.1 waxstat?

Hi, i've been having running issue on my 1.1 for about 2 years now and it just gets worse and worse.

I fitted the correct weber carb a while ago (cant remember what they're called!) to replace the peirberg but still get the same problems.

the engine wont keep its idle. it goes all over the place before usually stalling and making a horrible bang which sounds like its coming from the bottom end. i've played with the mixture a lot and cleaned all the jets out. someone told me to check the waxstat but i have no idea what that is.

i met a guy called kerrie once from harrogate who kindly helped me repair something and i recall that he was an absolute genious when it came to anything mk1. i cant remember your user name kerrie but if you read this, i will gladly pay you to have a look at it some time if i can bring it over.

do you still have the oil breathers re circulating into the air box?

check vacuums.
