mk1 1.3 engine swap?
Hi everyone, recently bought a mk1 1.3, just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction about what engines best to fit in wich doesnt need new mounts ect.
Cheers, Ash

with it being a smallblock the engine mounts are in different places to big block lumps. best option in my opinion would be to put a 1.3 out of a later polo in with fuel injection and electronic dizzy.
could also put the 5 speed box in but you would need to make a gearbox mount out of the original one and the polo one. if you want a good amount of power you could go for the gt lump but a good one can be hard and pricey to come by.
some might say you should put a g40 in but thats probably as much work as doing a big block as it mounts differently due to the charger on it. and they are even harder and more expensive to come by than the gt lumps.
send a guy called yeha a pm (or he might drop by) as he know his stuff when it comes to the polo lumps and whats easiest which years etc.

I agree with Rusty. There's a few GT conversions for sale on ClubPolo at the moment too.

don't think so pretty sure you will have to move mounts for one of them. look for a 1.3 lump from a mk3 polo (k reg ish shape) will get power gains with minimum amount of headaches…
