mark 1 driver conversion
hello everyone this is my first post so i hope you bear with me. i'm currentlythinkingofconvrting my mark 1 1.3 driver to a mark 2 1.6 engine.does anyone know if this is possible? if you're wondering why go for the 1.6 driver engine……………..it's going cheap cos my mates converting his to 16v gtiengine and gearbox.

i think if your gonna do that amount of work just for a 1.6 you'll be dissapointed you didn't do a 16v conversion (or 1.8t/vr6). have you thought of popping a 5 speed box on your current engine to make it nicer at motorway speeds and waiting till you can afford to do a bigger engine conversion?
i say this because i own a driver also and after weighing up all the options i'm just stickin with the original engine till i can afford to do the job properly.
