lumenition electronic ignition?

hi,

im looking in to getting electronic ignition for my 1.1 formel E and was looking at lumenition magnetronics which is a hidden moduel inside the dizzy cap. has anyone used one on a golf that can comment on how good they are ( or not ) or even let me know of any better alternatives?

i've been told petronix (think thats how you spell it) ones are very good and most buses and bugs have them fitted these days. there normally on ebay but i'm not sure which one you would need.  :dontknow:

This line sell it to me though - The pertronix kit you want is the 1843, it was so easy to fit and works so well  Just wish i had done this mod. form day one! It is a must!!!!!

Saved it in my favorites a while ago - gonna buy it before the cold sets in for winter  :wink:

Aldon Automotive sell the petronix kits under there own name - Ignitor series iirc.

Let me know how you get on if you buy one.

Thats great help Thanx. Only trouble is im not sure what type of distributor iv got or how to tell. I would like to replace it anyway as tryin to update all my ignition system so maybe id be better buyin a petronix distributor with the ignitor built in. Has anyone tried that? Thanx for the help and advice so far.  :lol:

i'm not sure if petronix will do a distributor for the small block golfs  :dontknow: . to be fair as long as your vacuum advance is working and it all looks ok inside i wouldn't bother. i'd guess if you could get a pertornix dizzy it would be rather expensive ?200 plus?

ye i think your right. iv contacted aldon over this matter and a place called machine7.com, as they do kits for aircooled vw that updates the whole ignition system for around ?170 which aint too bad.
