knocking noise

hi, i got my polo gt engine in my 1.1c running last night but its making a knocking/tapping noise…is this normal?? if not is thr anything i can do to stop it?

Hmm - what kind of a noise is it?  Is it loud?  Did you do the breathers and change the oil and filter?  If its a sticky tappet then flushing the oil with proper engine flush and refilling it should sort it out.

It might just be the water pump - they run ceramic bearings and sometimes make some very odd noises.  Might also be worth disconnecting the Altenator drive belt as the noise might be coming from there?

hi steve. yeh its pretty loud, i changed the oil but 4 got to clean the breather. you think il be ok just to leave it until i take it to get tuned up and they can have a look?

The breather is just two allen head screws on the back of the engine block.

As long as it isn't knocking its brains out I would just ask the tuner to investigate it - even if it needs a bearing set, they are cheap and easy to do without having to pull the engine out.
