How much time+money+parts needed to change a 1.1 to a 1.8?

i have a mk1 1.1 and also a mk2 golf gti 8v with crap bodywork and about to go down the scrappy, but has a good engine. I would like to know as much information as possible about this engine conversion before i consider it.

kerrly, take a search of the recent threads as this was answered about a week ago.

Unless you have ALL the parts already then it was deemed to be too costly a swap for the person who asked before. So many parts needed to swap so would be cheaper just to buy a Gti.
