So ive definately just taken the bolt out of the front of the gearbox mistaking it for a filler bolt, to then realise its too long for a filler but alas, the damage is done. So im guessing that was a daffodil shaft bolt or something? so everythings dropped down? is that right? and so itl need to be rebuilt, correct? just need so reassurance about what iv just done... cheers guys

have you got a picture of where you took the bolt out? is it on the gearbox connecting to the engine or connecting to one of the mounts? cant you just jack up the gearbox a but and put it back into place?

Sounds like it could be a mount bolt ..if so use a trolley jack to raise the gearbox back into position and then line up and put the bolt back in place ….should be ok  …post up a picture

And if you can buy a Haynes manual ..

I did this many moons ago in my youth, unscrewed what I thought was the drain/refill hole.

Don't think I totally removed the bolt before I realised it wasn't a plug and screwed it back in. No damage done fortunately.

i didnt explain it very clearly but its a very obvious bolt on the front facing flat surface of the box, round with a phillips head. no picture unfortunately as box is now out and in pieces! only thing to do in this situation is crack it open and rebuild whats out of place... annoying but hey ho we live and learn.
