I've heard of coils causing this problem. They get hot and fail, then cool down and work again.

hello again fellow dub lovers!
i have put fresh petrol in her so im doubting its that, also i have felt the coil to see if its hot after driving it and it seems alright, but that was my first thought.
since ive had her i have changed the oil, leads, distributor cap, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, rotor arm, spark plugs
think thats it!
anyway if any one has got any more suggestions it would much appreciated :)

probs

mine did the same as that.... it was the alternater draining the charge from the battery causing the car to die then once the bat slowly regained charge started fine then keeps on happening

Hmm, have you whipped the top off the carb and checked for stuff blocking up the main jet and the float chamber, check and clean.

Also, while you have the top off, check the little non return valve for the fuel feed in the top plate of the carb - sometimes they can get a bit stiff/badly behaved.

Then start it up and stick a meter over the battery and stick all the lights on and see wether its charging or discharging etc… :)

Mine did something similar after it had sat in a field for 3 years, was the carb and fuel pump all gunged up. :)

i've got an 83 driver and it still runs on the old points system sometimes when the points aren't set properly they can missbehave when they get hot just a thought cause when anything ever happens on mine it always the points lol.
