Heli coil spark plug

Hi all, ive got got my first mk1 golf. ( I've had more than my fare share of the other models)
It's a 1.1 4 speed. The lad I got it of says that either no 1 or 4 cylinder spark plug hole the threads have been pulled and it keeps popping the spark plug out :( I was wondering if anyone has had this issue and knows that size kit I need and would it just screw in or does it involve more work?

To heli coil the cylinder head you will have to drill then retap the hole so that the heli coil screws in, this will create alot of debris/swarf so it is best to remove the cylinder head to do the job so that the cylinders and pistons dont get damaged by the debris when you start the engine. In my opinion you would be better off getting a good second hand cylinder head and just replace it.

I thought just as much but some how was thinking there might have been another way  :banghead:

I have only recently got the car and had a good look over it and think it might be a bit more of a longer term project now  its not mega bad but needs bushes n lines plus a couple of repairs.

cheers for the information tho

If you want to do it properly/securely - I think it'd be best, and probably cheaper, to buy a new cylinder head, or probably engine.

I've decided to pull the engine paint the bay and put something more powerful in there now. Just need to decide what engine?
