Golf 1.1 C spec

Does any one know the specification on a mk1 1.1 golf C. Bought one to run around for a few months and i'm just wondering what Hp, 0-60, top speed weight mpg etc it has.

Thanks

I think they are 45hp. 0-60 in about 3 weeks, top speed realistically about 90-100mph. They weigh about 800Kg's.

mk1

think its about 17-18seconds. not bad for a run around tho to get to work and back, keep the mk1 golf 280bhp 2.0 turbo in the garage for a nice day :D

The Golf C weighs 750kg, develops 50bhp, has a 0-60 17.1 secs and a top speed of 87mph.

iv had mine to around 105 mph  long stretch and slightly downhill, it does have a webber carb on it but all said and done its still only running on a 4 speed box, god knows what rpm it was doing!! of all the engines iv run mk1 and mk2 1.1 - 1.6 it has been by far the most feisty, real little rocket when it goes

I'm very surprised your engine was is still in one piece, at 105mph you'd be pulling almost 7400rpm. VW recommend max rpm as 5800 and there's no limiter 8O , never pushed mine past 85 and that felt a bit uncivilised.  Most speedos generally get less precise the faster you go and can also be put out by different sized wheels.

my 1100 engine the first one i had done 100 all day long, was running that for like 2months, lad i bought it of (down my road) he was using it for a year or so and he dont particly drive slow either! and it was only removed for a engine on bike carbs

i always have the last laugh ;)

jeeees 7400, thats off the clock! yeah fair point, i dont know exactly how accurate the speed clock is   but im sure it was pulling 100, as others on here are too. i dont do it all the time, it was a one off really  it is a very pokey little engine on the quiet tho.

If i hav a 1.4 8v engine on a 1.1 gearbox.....how will that affect the performance, im assuming same sort of top speed but faster acceleration??

i drive my mk1 1.3 jetta on the motorway every week, and it sits nicely at 80mph, no steering shake, or loud noises, but then again, it is lowered on coils, and i've fitted a 5speed box. :)
small block engines can b used as daileys. just gotta look after them a lil, treat them 2 a gd service now and again, keep thins lubricated and all topped up and it'll last you a lift time :)

lol im just worried about the leangth of 4th gear, i wont have the money to carry out a gearbox change, jus wanting to kno if a 1.1 will sit comfortably at 75 on the motorway without shaking itself apart. :D

If you find a 1.1, take it for a test drive to see if you liek it.

2b honest mate, me and a friend did the conversion ourselves, its really straight forward.

Gearbox from breakers - ?20 (mk2 golf 1.3, mk2 polo 1.3 Rod shift)
Gearbox mount made up - ?20
Clutch (dont have 2, but thought it was best whilst the box was off) - ?60
