g40 converson cost?

was thinking of doing a g40 conversion to the golf as the head has cracked and a g40 is a easier swap than a 16 valver with mine being a 1300 driver.

 was wondering what i should expect to pay for everything for a conversion??

 will i need to change the tank like you have too when doing a 16 valver or would my current one be adequate?

anyone know what sort of power a standard g40 lump puts out?

i think the standard g40 lump is 115bhp so youd be looking at 1.8 gti power levels but from what ive seen your looking at quite a hefty sum for the engine, i think someone on the polo club forum was selling the engine and gearbox for ?1400.

to be honest matey your probaly best of buying a g40 doing the conversion then try selling whats left I,E Wheels, Brakes,Suspention exhaust, Interior, windows, and even the shell. i say this because you should have every thing you need for the conversion including wireing loom. plus you can get some of your money back on the bits you sell. oh a stock g40 lump put out 113BHP and with a eaton conversion they have been known to reach 200bhp (better power to weight ratio than a civic type R). hope this help
