engine cuts out when clutch & brake pressed at same time

hi i have a mk1 driver

its running fine until i put the brake and clutch on at the same time and cant work out whats causing this please help as i really want it on the road for shows please

Presuming you tried them both seperatly, ,and as both pedals are mechanical, (discounting the brake light switch) it sounds like….

1. Either a wire is getting snagged when both pedals are pressed
2. Something under the bonnet is getting snagged

or I supposed the clutch may need adjusting and/or faulty and the brake pedal is compounding and existing problem there.
