Electronic ignition for 1.3 driver
I'm looking at getting an electronic ignition setup on my driver. Can anyone give advice on which Lumnetion system is best, either the optronic or magnatronic. Cheers

As far as I know, you can't get Magnetronic for the 1.3, so it has to be Optronic
I bought it for my son's Driver - fitted it in late July - made a big difference to starting and general running - also added about 4mpg instantly
Not cheap, but worthwhile
Slightly fiddly to fit the gubbins into the distributor - actually, that's not true - its a doddle to fit, but its a bit fiddly making sure the wires don't touch the optical chopper when the vacuum advance is activated.

Thanks, they do a magnetronic kit for the bosch 050 coil. My dizzy is 050 Do you think it would be suitable?

When I called them, I was told that there is no Magnetronic kit for the 1272 lump with the Bosch dizzy - that's why I bought the Optronic
You should call them

alternatively all the ignition coil and TCI unit + loom from a electronic ignition MK2 1.3-1.8 carb/k-jet can be used, along with the distributor from any 1.3 MK2/polo with electronic ignition and vacuum advance. dirt cheap.

I thought so - glad to be of assistance
You need Optronic fitting kit FK217 for the Bosch dizzy - about ?18 on top of the ?160 - ?180 for the ignition module (RRP is ?195, but you can usually get a bit of a discount)

Would the same kit be suitable for a '79 1.1?

Almost certainly (but check before you part with your money)
The Lumenition application list says:
Bosch 0231-186- 009/015/017/023/024/037/038 with top
bearing plate (screws to internal circlip) - NOT 0231-191
onwards
So - as long as the 1.1 dizzy is in the list above, it should work just fine
