carb question
how do i tell if the carb on our car is an 'older 2 stud' or 'later 4 stud'? the car is an x reg '82 golf c 1100
i'm assuming 2/4 refers to the number of studs to mount the carb to the manifold, am i right? i can see 4 mounting bolts, so is it a 4 stud later carb?
it has a Solex 31 PIC (T) - 7 stamped on the side if this helps
thanks in advance, billy

The 2 stud manifold is on 1.1's with the engine code FA. VW replaced the FA with the GG 1.1 somepoint in 1979, so you should have a four stud manifold. You should be able to see the studs around the base of the carb. One in front, one behind for two stud and one at each corner for a four.
