hi guys n gals, do mk1 cabby front calipers and discs bolt straight onto a 1.1 mk1 golf c hub/wheel bearing assembly??? :?

ok, next question........ can i fit a golf mk2 16v servo unit? will it be of any use? i ask this cause i got it laying around

Yes, but you also need to use the matching master cylinder, or at least one which has the same depth for the plunger to go into it. In other words, NOT the Mk1 master cylinder, but the Mk2 16V one (this one is wider diameter which gives the reduced pedal stroke). The servo, being larger, means there's less force required for the equivalent braking.

The Tech Section on the left has a write up of how its done, and its a popular conversion so if you have any issues then a forum search or if you can't find what you need, a question, will sort out any issues that come up.

seems that people prefer scirocco 16v servo n master cyl, whats the diff if any?

at a guess id say reason is the scirocco 16v stuff will bolt straight on without modification. however the golf bits are much easier to find, as the 9" servo can be found on ALL MK2s with a 1.8 engine, plus automatics and the diesels. the 22mm master cylinder is readily available from  decent VAG autofactors/ebay, and is cheap!

fitted my mk1 golf cabby brakes to my 1.1c (NOT changed the servo or mstr cyl) n boy what a brill up-grade!!! uber good. thanx for all the advice. this lil car will be a rat-look G40 conversion, so watch this space!!! will try to post some pics when i figuere how to!!! any advice??? :D
