Box advice needed

Hey

I have a 1.4 ABD Golf Mk3 engine for my 1.3 Mk1

My Mk1 has a 4 speed box and the engine that i got is 5 speed…

what box do i require?

If I get the box out of the 1.4 ABD car, will that work fine in my Golf Mk1?

the old box will fit, the new one will require a custom gearbox mount making up. what you do is get the gearbox half of a polo 5 speed mount and weld it to the chassis half of a mk1 mount.

Is there any particular Polo I should look at?

MK2 or MK3 polo, up to 92ish
