being stupid, 1.1 -> 2.0 16v

might be me being 100% blind but cant seem to find much info on this? just some useful links if anyone has any? preferably something with engine/gearbox mount info, how hard the conversion is, what parts are needed etc, also (i know its in wrong place) but any information on K-Series manifolds or bike carbs on a 2.0 16v?

really sorry if this is a re-post but in a bit of hurry and been offered a nice engine & all ancilleries, gearbox, shafts, loom, ecu, brakes, exhaust, and a k-series manifold for cheap  :) :)

Your drivers side engine mount should look like this, note the notch in the mount and the groove in the chassis leg. as pointed by the wand-o-magic.

Take it off, flip it over and align it up further up the chassis leg here……once again note the wand-o-magic is pointing at the groove in the chassis leg. this is the point where the mount need to be welded.

You can see where it used to be here, and where the new location is.

As for carbs….. I have no clue, worry about that once you've done the above and the engine is situated.

With you going carbs, I dont know what fuel pressures the carbs require. I'm guessing that the lift pump you have anyway will do…….

 :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow:

search it fella. And good luck.

I'm going injection for the time being so have to swap the tank over etc, but may go carbs in the future, when funds allow.

Gear box mount is fine.

But you will need new mounts all round.

Engine mount is different
Gear box mount is different (if going 5 speed)
As is both rear engine steady mount and front engine steady mount.

Don't fall victim to the " I need GTI mounts" You need big block mounts which is 1.5 and above.

Most people go for the diesel mounts as the rubber is a bit more robust to cater for the heavier derv engine.

You will also need a new steering rack to allow you to use your 5 speed linkage. Once again a 1.5 or above will be the right one or any steering rack off a caddy pickup.

rightyo lol, is there anything else i should know about? can i use existing radiator? brake upgrades? driveshafts the right length? whats the deal with this k-jet business and what vehicles have these or can i just get away with fitting an inline fuel pump?

basically wanna get everything i think i will need before i even undertake the conversion as its my daily so need everything to be right when its done :)

another thing is, whats the insurance like on a 2.0 16v mark1? bearing in mind i have 6 points on my license and i'm only 21 years old

rightyo lol, is there anything else i should know about?

can i use existing radiator?   SHOULD THINK SO, YEP

brake upgrades? DEFFINATELY, YOU COUULD GET GTI PADS AND DISCS, OR UPGRADE TO 256MM CAVALIER SPEC ??

driveshafts the right length? DEPENDS ON YOUR GEARBOX, IF USING MK1 GTI BOX THEN YOU CAN USE YOUR EXISTING SHAFTS, IF USING THE MK2 BOX YOU'LL NEED 100MM DRIVE SHAFTS OR USE YOUR EXISTING SHAFTS AND CHANGE THE OUTPUT FLANGES ON TO 90MM. (YOUR EXISTING SHAFTS ARE 90MM

whats the deal with this k-jet business and what vehicles have these or can i just get away with fitting an inline fuel pump? IF YOUR GOING CARBS ON YOU 2.0 16V THEN DONT WORRY ABOUT KJET, AS MOST OFF IT WILL NOT BE USED

basically wanna get everything i think i will need before i even undertake the conversion as its my daily so need everything to be right when its done THIS CONVERSION WILL TAKE YOU LONGER THAN A DAY.

another thing is, whats the insurance like on a 2.0 16v mark1? bearing in mind i have 6 points on my license and i'm only 21 years old MEERLY A PHONECALL AWAY

p.s thanks for the help

(I'VE ASSUMED YOUR GOING 9A 2.0 16V IN THE ANSWERS ABOVE FROM A CORRADO)

DO THE RESEARCH BUDDY THERES LOADS ALL OVER THE INTERNETS
