If it says HK…

It's a MK2 Golf HK 1300. 1985ish..

How much and where are you getting the gasket set from?

i dnt no yet, got a quote from eurocarparts, about 30ish quid for the gasket set, all new head bolts and timing belt?? sound resonable?
thats if it was the mk2 engine if it was the mk1 1300 it was like 35pounds.

anywhere else i can get it from,
im going for the yamaha r6 bike carb conversion and want to do all my gaskets etc worth getting anything uprated whilst i have th head off, bearing in mind im on a budget
thanks for the reply

I've got an HK engine in mine…apparently they are a higher compression ratio than a mk 1 1300, which is good and nice..

Yup - HK is Mk2 Golf and Mk2 Polo.  Bizarely they make 5bhp less power than the Mk1 1.3 engine - not sure why.

I think the Mk2 1300 was tuned for economy, mine came out of a MK2 Formel E.

Formel E is a bit different - lower comrpession and a mild cam.

even more bizarely, my HK engined mk1 is MUCH faster than my mates standard driver… ( !! ) - which is still v nippy…can do 110 no problem, haven't timed 0-60 yet….ran a mid 18 secs at santa pod !!

Maybe something to do with the mk2 carb and inlet manifold ? as i've got the solex carb etc on mine ( at the moment ! )

Its worth getting the head skimmed before refitting to ensure its true and flat.Cost about ?25/35 but worth doing.
