Try the main stealer first IMO. Its the sort of thing they may have in stock and cheap!

If theres something I don't know about carb engine fuel pumps and oil then please feel free to set me straight.

… the oil can leak out when the o-ring is worn!

lol thanks peeps. go the o ring from vw dealers this morning, fitted it, oil stoped leaking, thought yeah great. decided to go out for a drive a bit later on, and noticed black smoke coming out of the bonnet. pulled over poped the bonnet and there were flames n all sorts going on. put flames out wiv hands in a panic (not good) :banghead: . yeah so one of the lines going from the fuel pump to the carb was a bit perrished and leaked, causing the clutch cable outer skin to burn, along with many wires. oh the joy of old cars lol, could have bin alot worse but all should be good in a few days.
thanks alot

Lucky escape, replace all the fuel lines to be safe!

Probably old perished hoses couldn't stand up to be moved about when you took fuel pump off. As Dubboy says replace all the fuel hoses in the engine bay to be on the safe side.
