after 5 years... trying to start
Likely cause? Have refilled tank with fresh petrol and added some Redex to help clear carbon deposits out of carb. Fuel def getting to carb. Cleaned plugs, replaced condensor and reset points - still no joy
Any help guys?
cheers

* a blocked idle jet (so the fuel comes through on throttle but not on the idle circuit).
* badly setup carburettor
or (my bet is)
* no positive feed getting to the carburettors fuel cut-off valve

Have you tried re-setting the idle speed using the throttle-stop screw and the idle mixture using the idle-bypass screw and idle-mixture screw (I assume it's a Solex Pierburg Carburettor) ?

have checked listed stuff. Fuel cut-off valve getting nearly 12V with ignition on, carb (solex) set-up as when previously running well.
dubbydrummer,
OK so you're getting 12V at the cut-off solenoid - but is it 'clicking' in and out (test by pulling the connection off whilst the ignition is on) - it should then 'click' as it shuts. No 'click' = not open = no fuel at idle.
I understand that the settings were OK when it went into storage, but try tweaking the throttle stop screw clockwise a half-turn and see if that makes a difference.
If still no luck then take the idle mixture screw out and have a look/clean and then re-adjust.
