5 speed box conversion, gear linkage issue Please help!!

Right done a 5 speed conversion. Box in and custom mount welded, all seemed good. Have a problem with the gear selector.

Everyone else say they used polo ball and cage on mk1 rod. Have a look at the photo but basically my rod appears to short! Wandering as I have a series 1 is it different, do I have the wrong parts or have I just been a silly boy!



gearbox selector is extended to its max not allowing movement.

Im stuck and not happy

Maybe a photo of a working example may help!

ive just bought a 5 speed box and with it came a "longer" linkage so maybe thats a hint, not had chance to try yet as work is taking my time up.

great, do you mean the rod from the gear selector or the cage part of the linkage that fits over the ball?

the linkage from under the gearstick forward to the gearbox. dont kno if this is the reason why but just a thought.
