160000 Miles?!

I have found a golf i really like for sale, but one snag, its done 160000 miles! :/

my guess because its a petrol, normally they wont run much higher than 130000?
how durable are these engines? or should i just stay well away?

When my gti came off the road it was on 165000 and was still running as sweet as the day I got it, also had a 1.5 gx that was on 215000!! Which apart from a dodgy carb was still running lovely too. So I would say that as long as its been serviced and had cam belt changes I wouldn't be too worried about mileage  :mrgreen:

My 1.3 ran all the way up to 198,000 miles until the gearbox went. The engine would have carried on! 8)
