1.3 wont run if the clutch & brake are pressed together

the engine runs but if you press the clutch and brake at the same time it cuts the engine out !!

any ideas what could be causing this problem??

Clutch works on a cable , brake only switches brake light switch and if you have a servo [do you?] will get engine vacuum .

For my money tick over not fast enough or vacuum to servo cutting engine .
