1.3 Running Issues?

Im having trouble with Gordon (Again  :banghead: )

When the engine is running between 2500RPM & 3000RPM Approx the revs seem to become unstable, hunting and rising with no change in the throttle position?? When driving along as soon as it reaches this rev band it faintly glitches, not enough to say its a miss fire or a fuel delivery problem. If i rev the car on the spot at 3000RPM you can phisically see the rev counter fluctuate slightly and hear a change in engine tone.  :dontknow:

The fuel tank has been completly cleaned out, ALL flexi fuel lines replaced, New Fuel Pump, Carb stripped and cleaned out + new jets, (Webber ICH-34), New Condenser, New timing belt, Contact Breaker re-calibrated and timing re-checked, all to no avail?
Any ideas where else to look would be apreciated  :D

Incidently its running a Ducellier Distributor NOT the more renown Bosch unit. Getting to the point where this could be the problem, but dont wanna bin it if its not clearly the problem.

Yea it could be your distributor - try stripping it while checking for wear on the main shaft

I'd say burnt points, same used to happen on mine quite often as the dizzy leaked oil (also a ducellior). The revs used to be very erratic and progressively got worse, to the point of being drivable.  Or could be dizzy cap, leads, plugs, carb, worn engine….

^^^^ this, mine did it a few times, take the dizzy cap off, and you may see the points in the cap, and the conductor on the rotor arm will be burnt where the spark has arced across the gap .
