1.3 Driver engine block, CYLINDER BORING

Just discovered there's a place literally 2 minutes away from me that does head skimming, porting, cylinder boring.

What size increase could I expect from my 1300 block?

You first need to find a set of oversize pistons and rings.

boring operations (if done by a decent company) are usually undertaken in 25cc increases ie. if you go 1 size bigger, you go from 1272cc to 1297cc etc

Pistons and rings are hideously expensive, when I siezed my 1272cc I thought long and hard about getting mine bored, but the pistons and rings headed dangerously close to £500 - so I just had mine flex honed and was done with it

porting and skimming is by far the most sensible/cheapest option. You'll see similar gains from all of the processes you've listed, but skimming is very simple, as with porting, and there's no other parts to buy afterwards.

My cylinder head is skimmed to within an inch of its life, and I noticed slight improvement when revving high - I'm planning on porting sometime soon, just to increase engine power efficiency.

In my opinion you could possibly get another 50cc, maybe 75cc out of a 1300 block (remember that it's just an already bored out 1100) and the costs (in my eyes) outway the return.

What would I gain from bigger valves? Youre right about the cost, X

Is the 1.5 something that I can literally just swap out for my 1.3? Or is it more complicated than that?

The 1.5 is classed as a big block engine? isn't it? so different mounts I think….Could be wrong though.

I've decided against boring it out Tom, when I get the head off I'll get it skimmed, might even get it polished up all nice and shiny!

Aye, a skimmed head, bike carbs set up properly, 4 branch manifold, GTI exhaust system, should be pretty sweet!
