1.1 help

need help as fixed me car n then screwed it !!! just bought mk1 1.1 think its a 1.1 but seems faster on solex carb any way was running a bit rough & rich tuned it up was quick & reliable for a week untill today when i thought id check the plugs as was not running smoth enough anyway i found that all spark plugs were loose & 1 of them must have been dropped on floor prior to fitment as pin was touching electrode! so sorted all that started up and it ran like new was well chuffed then drove a mile then bang band bang back fire cut out managed to get it started again after about 10 mins & badly backfired all the way home about 1/2 a mile! now can bearly get it started & when it does runs really rough & constantly backfires HELP !

what did you set the plug gap to

As above. Did you buy new plugs or just open the gap and popped them back in. If one has been dropped, you really need to replace it. Or best of all, all of them.

Could be head gasket gone between bores and was ok with little compression due to loose plugs but now they are all tight it could be enough!

Go with wht the others mentioned with gapping

Did you put the HT leads back in the right order ?
